If I buy RME hook it too my pivot-perreaux-cd3ks will it be too bright without modding?How's the modding done?

I doubt it would be too bright, unless you are very sensative to highs (which makes the CD3K a bad choice in general), however the stock opamp is kinda harsh up top, and not very smooth. Check the modding RME thread for how it is done. You just connect the legs of the capacitors (and remove them if you like), and take off the old opamp, then put on the new ones on an adaoter. It takes a moderate amount of soldering skill, but then again I've done it a number of times with almost no real soldering experience and a $7 iron.

looks like too much trouble to get into.ill stick with 6-fire for now.may be if someone decides to sell his modded rme in the gear for sale forum..
