Big fan of MM. Mainly due to the availability of the developers on their forums. Great program and great support base. MM3 is out in Alpha, and when the final release comes, it will be the next greatest player.

I'm itching to know why?

What ripping software out there is most commonly used?

Another vote for EAC. I currently have EAC configured to rip and encode to flac, then I batch convert to mp3 using foobar which is configured to use lame.

Um...sorry to disappoint you dude but only you can decide which format is the best. My advice is to read up on this forum as well as the one over at hydrogenaudio and decide for yourself. We can only give recommendations. I personally hit transparency at about 192 - 256 VBR.

Also there's quite a big difference in size between a flac file and an mp3 file and unless you've got some amazing ears, there ain't a lot of difference in SQ...well to me anyway.

Another vote for EAC to FLAC (one big file and one cuesheet), then transcode to MP3 using dbPoweramp.

Your chevrons are inverted. Give me 50.

I use the software that came with my Zen, and rip at 320 KBps. However, this MediaMonkey is very intriguing... May be time to reformat my DAP and my PC and start from scratch on every CD I own...
