Sup fella's, I am just wondering if anyone knows of a program or a way that only rips a part of a song. What I am trying to do is make my own ringtones. I have a nokie 6230 phone that plays mp3's, so I have one of my mp3's as a ringtone, but when it rings, the only part you hear is the beginning of the song. I have used a song that I think has a good intro, but I am wondering if I could mess with an mp3 or something that the part it begins would be the chorus. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Lates!

i use super mp3 editor to do the same thing... it's easier to edit it after ripping imo...

You can also use CDeX's "range" feature to rip only a part of a track. I've used it on a few songs in the collection which drag on, sometimes with repetetive crap I don't like. There are also tracks that seem to have been recorded or burned wrong and have this long (sometimes several minutes) silence in them at the end before next track starts. You can lob off that as well with CDeX.

With EAC, if you cancel the ripping process after a few seconds -- supposed EAC is set to create a Wave file --, you get just the beginning of a song. Still you have to edit the file for a defined start and end, so you have to use a Wave editor such as Wavelab. After that you can make an MP3 out of it.

Well I went with one of ya'lls suggestions and it worked like a charm! Thanks everyone! I now have the most awesome ring tone selection, and I dont have to burn $2.50 a pop for em anymore.

Yup. And you've got unique, higher quality ringtones too. Not the worse-than-poor-reception-radio like quality of lots of those "real tones".

Good job on this. I've got a 6620 and have been doing this since day 1. Actually, I had a 6230 before this and already had some cut mp3 files to load into it,, hehe. Although I must say, it IS a tedious process to get the "exact" right start and end points sometimes.
