I'm finally resigned to the fact that my home rig is not going to get more than a couple of hours of use a month, if that.

Thing is I still have stacks of SACD's, most of which are not dual-layer. As much as I'd like to add this stack to my regular listening rotation I just can't justify the time it would take to record it with decent quality in real-time.

Is there an alternative?

If you absolutely want it on your HD, you're gonna have to encode it via the analog outputs to your line-input. This will kill the purity of the DSD. Otherwise, there's no way outside of having a dedicated SACD player.

"In fact, Oppo is the only company on the market that I’m aware of that offers SACD playback via HDMI. The SACD signal is converted to 88.1/24 PCM and passed via a v1.1 HDMI output. Why no other DVD manufacturer has done this yet is beyond me,"

Then there are receivers with spdif output such as this one:

In theory, you could play the SACD in the Oppo, which will put out 24bit/88.2kHz digital output via HDMI into the receiver-->spdif output to your computer soundcard.

Only way to find out if it will work in reality is to try it out
