As many of you know we lost a truly great jazz guitarist/human being this week.
Jim Hall passed away.
 
These sorts of towering figures in the jazz world are getting fewer and fewer.
 
It's hard to underestimate the influence Jim had on jazz guitarists and those he worked with.
 
Those of us lucky enough to have met him also knew him as a beacon of humanity and just plain wonderful person.

He did so many different things beautifully. His work with, say, Sonny Rollins was markedly different from the balladic stuff he recorded with Paul Desmond or Bill Evans, and those gigs were a far cry from his role in the Jimmy Giuffre 3. His solo records were a whole 'nutha animal. He was worshipped for basically having "no" boundaries or limits.
