I've got a pair of shure E3 and a Beyerdynamics DT911. I plan to buy a Rio Karma (seems to have to best sound among portable players).

Is it worthy to add a portable amp (and if yes, which would you recommand, at what price ?) to a Karma, to use it sometimes with the Beyer DT911 ?

Depends. I don't necessarily need an amp when using my 325's with the Karma, but the amp does help the sound and the volume pot gives me a better volume range than the buttons on the Karma.

I think you would definately see improvement from an amp. I would look into getting someone to build you a portable pimeta.
