Cable is basically tailor made for the Neon, very lightweight and has good build quality. Although the chin slider doesnt work and I was not able to get a read on the resistance due to the recessed pins.

Resin build and is very lightweight as well. There is pressure build up due to it having no vents, but it is a lot better than most BA iems, most likely thanks to the bullet shape/size.

As for sound, well. It doesnt offend me and seems well tuned. Thats it for my teaser. But here are some graphs.

Yeah...not very good channel matching which along with the missing tips in my unit doesnt give me much confidence in their QC....

Since I wasnt able to measure the stock cable, I tried seeing if there was any FR changes in using a low resistance cable (A3) and well. Basically no changes. Which is very impressive so I do believe most people wont have to worry about it being source picky due to OI.
Everything looks promising except channel balance and QC. I guess later batches might not suffer from this but who knows what transpires in Chi-fi land.

Have you had a chance to listen them? I think it will be Etymotic kinda neutral where bass will be compensated with insertion depth.

I sure hope they step up their QC because this DOES have potential in a world where BA iems are....not really that good compared to other configurations where I would only recommend a BA iem specifically if the requester prioritizes isolation first.

Only caveat is, you need to use them in a deep fit to get the most out of them. So its not an Ety alternative in the sense that you can avoid a deep fitting iem (although I guess this doesnt penetrate as deep as they do lol.

Guess I'll have to skip them considering this is I guess 2nd or 3rd channel imbalance report. This batch is surely a no-no.

I will go for DT100 or cheapo Nicehck X49. For $50, QC risk is not at all worth it.

The DT100 is definitely better with the bass. Although the Neon should beat it in the upper mids and treble. So depends on what you want I guess....

If you want to go up to the DT100 price range, I would recommend that you wait for impressions on GS Audio to popup, since they seem to have a lot of potential.

GS Audio 2 BA is for $86 if I'm not wrong. Makes sense to wait for them as well. Hope they're not all bark and no bite. They have some beautiful IEMs as well

My only worry for Neon is channel imbalance and QC in general as everything else is more or less what I like.

Ironically cheaper than their 1 BA set lol.

Guess I will ping @WendyLi:
There have been a few reports on bad channel matching with the Neon.

And I believe there was one more, but dont remember who it was.

Suffice to say that it is very hard to recommend something with questionable QC like this one, even if if matches the users preferences. Are you going to step up the QC? Its a shame to see something good be tossed aside because of bad QC....

Lol. Their pricing is confusing at times. Probably due to build quality as I'm assuming both BA sets are using same BAs.

Totally agree, KBEar after building considerable brand equity can't just let poor QC drag their name low.

Hi Kevin, yeah, we sincerely apologize for the trouble!

I just checked with our factory and found they gave us the wrong guidance in wearing the Neon. Below is the correct version.

Could you help to test it again? And send me the updated graph?

We will test all our stock of Neon again and check if there are similar problems. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi friend, did you buy the KBEAR Neon? Or other KBEAR products? We sincerely apologize to you if there is any trouble caused!

We will enhance our OC! Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Wendy, I'm planning to buy Neon in the upcoming sale. I have KBEar Opal and a bunch of cables and I'm not facing any QC issues on any of them. But the reports of channel imbalance is disheartening as people like and trust this brand to deliver products as per the standards they have set. Your comments are reassuring and I believe things will improve in the future. Thanks!

2021-06-13: KBEAR Neon review is up: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/kbear-neon.25202/reviews#review-26058

Rank: B

While it isnt exactly an iem that aligns with my preferences. It is a well tuned BA iem that could be a default recommendation for anyone wanting a DF-neutral BA iem in the budget range. Just praying that the QC will be improved.

A pretty small portable amp/dac. Size comparison with the Apple Airpods 2019 above.
