2021-04-15: Mass demotion

Aiderlot M5 rank from A+ to A: BA bass

Audiosense DT100 rank from A to B+: resolution and technicalities lacking.

Audiosense DT200 rank from A to A-: resolution and technicalities lacking.

Blon BL-01 rank from B+ to B: bass quality, resolution and technicalities lacking.

Fiio FH3 rank S to A+: BA timbre present in the mids/treble, resolution and technicalities not S rank level.

Final Audio E3000 rank from A- to B+: bloated bass, resolution and technicalities lacking.

Final Audio E5000 rank from A- to B+: very bloated bass, too little treble and overall is a poor match for my library.

Intime Sora 2 rank from A+ to A: too little bass for me and isn’t very fun because of that.

Ibasso IT00 rank from A- to B+: lacking bass quality, resolution and technicalities.

LZ A6 rank from S to S-: mids not on par with other S rank iems in quality (and also very recessed).

Tanchjim Oxygen rank from S to S-: tonality not suited for my library (bass quantity too little and too bright overall)

Urbanfun ISS014 rank A+ to A: resolution and technicalities lacking.

The main cause of these demotions is because the Dunu EST112 have raised the bar a lot for me and also because the KZ DQ6 is as good as it is.

And also, the IKKO OH10 rank A+.

2021-04-19: Added the Yincrow RW-2000 rank S and demoted the NiceHCK EBX21 and the Toneking Viridis from S to S-. (Viridis review rating changed from 5/5 to 4.5/5)

Some TL DR comparison between the RW-2000, EBX21 and the Viridis:

Bass: RW-2000
Male vocals (lower-mids): RW-2000
Female vocals: Viridis
Lower-treble: EBX21
Upper-treble: Viridis
Instrument separation: Viridis
Imaging: EBX21
Soundstage: RW-2000
Timbre: RW-2000

Overall the RW-2000 is by far my favorite one out of these 3. It just matches with my library and personal preference a lot more, and as an iem guy, just sounds more "complete" to me due to the EBX21/Viridis lacking a lot of bass I need.

2021-04-21: Here is a post on my setups:

setup.png

My portable setup should be pretty self explanatory.

The desktop setup however, is a bit more advanced. I am using my PC (Jriver music player) as my library, Topping E30 as my DAC that then gets connected into the JDS OL Switcher.

Which enables me to switch between my 2 amps, the JDS Atom which is connected as a preamp to my Swan M10 2.1 speakers can also be connected to other transducers but it is my least favorite amp so it gets the least use from my other transducers (It is on 24/7 due to it having almost no heat generation).

I switch over to the Schiit Asgard 3 when I want to listen to my transducers and not my speakers and is currently my main amp.

2021-04-24: I found a major discovery, using micropore tape to cover this vent on the E1000:
1619276768220.png

E1000 vs E1000 (micropore mod).png

E1000 (micropore mod) VS E3000.png

E1000 (micropore mod) VS E3000:

Cleaner bass on the E1000 due to it being tighter and maybe a tiny bit faster as well. Mids and treble tonality are better as well due to the overall sound being cleaner and less warm/thick. Better imaging and instrument separation due to the cleaner bass on the E1000. Similar soundstage, details and timbre (both bottlenecked on the E3000 due to the mid-bass focus causing it to have bloated bass).

Overall, the E1000 with the micropore mod is actually better than the E3000. Not only does it sound better (for my library at least), it fits better (a bit longer and bigger body) but most importantly it is easier to drive. So if you wanted an E3000 but couldn’t because of lack of power (smartphone or PC for example) then the E1000 with the micropore mod is a great alternative that’s also cheaper.

Final Audio E1000: Rank up from C (in stock) to B+ (micropore mod)

I cant take credit for this mod though, as I saw it over here:

Looks intriguing, how do the shells fit compared to an MX500 shell? I'd love to find a bud that has good extension for both lows and highs but doesn't compromise on technicalities. Seems like this might be a candidate, but I'm a bit hesitant to buy non standard sized buds, for example I could never get the NiceHCK EBX to sit properly in my ears, and I even have fairly big ears (wear L size IEM tips).

MX500 shells still go a bit deeper, that's probably why the X6 has more sub bass than the RW-2000.

Not bad fit though, probably the second best bud shape I have tried. Best for me is also the MX500 type.

2021-04-26: So I finally got my Sony EX1000 adapter. And my 2.5mm -> 6.35mm and a 3.5mm -> 6.35mm adapter.

Enables me to use cable B7 instead of the crappy stock cable with the memory hooks.

I also measured the stock cable and it has a resistance of 0.63 ohms.

1619448554698.png

Graphed it on stock and also with cable B7. (cable (stock and B7) and adapter (3.5mm -> 6.35mm and 4.4mm -> 6.35mm) are the only factors that got changed.)

Since this is a single DD, even with around 0.3 ohms difference with the cables, it didnt affect the FR. (some slight differences in the treble might be because of the insertion depth/angle.)

I got all version of this adapter now. :joy:

Well built, feels very solid and also got some weight to it. Easy to use since it is quite easy to grip it. Price is a bit pricey for an adapter though. But this (at least my 4.4mm -> 6.35mm that I have had for long time now) havent gotten any damage in my extensive use (switching transducers a lot) while all my other adapters (the ones you get in some iems) get disconnected/bad-sound when you move them during use.

2021-03-29: Got my second batch of my XINHS cables (came before my first batch thanks to dhl express lol, should hopefully get my first batch this week though).

1617035679850.png
0.15 ohms

High build quality, very low resistance, working chin-slider. On the thicker side due to being 8 cores but not too thick, a bit stiffer than average.
New default cable rec.
XINHS Hybrid copper/pure-silver 8-core (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002350509830.html) = cable A1

1617035793868.png
0.23 ohms

4-core version of cable A1, which is a bit less stiff but with a non-working chin-slider. If you want a thinner cable than the 8-core version, this is a great alternative.

XINHS Hybrid copper/pure-silver 4-core (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002350509830.html) = cable A2
(seems they dont have a separate listing for this one, but you can just ask the seller for it.)

1617035869292.png
0.23 ohms

Very good build quality for this price, average stiffness and quite thin for a 4-core cable. Although I recommend cable A3 that’s just a few dollars more expensive over this one.

XINHS copper 4-core (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001874696470.html) = cable A4

1617035952601.png
0.33 ohms

Quite a soft and flexible cable, very good build quality for this price, with a working chin-slider. The copper is of a red color which is very unique.

XINHS copper/SPC 8-core (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001747415190.html) = cable B1

1617036025101.png
0.47 ohms

Very soft and flexible cable, high build quality and a working chin-slider. But not really recommended due to price and resistance compared to other cables.

XINHS silver foil 8-core (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001747129492.html) = cable B2
I ordered A1 but turned out I ordered the brown version rather than the "copper" version. Now Im wondering if the resistance I'm getting is the same lol :sweat:

Looks similar to the A1. Paul doesnt use the same multimeter as I do so take the comparison with a grain of salt.
Ah yes that's the brown, but mine is brown/silver not brown/copper XD. But thanks! seem like measurements would likely be good? I might get a 4 core of the light copper/silver as the 8 core is pretty heavy

What a coincidence though, I was just watching his review on Azul and wondered where he got that cable from. It looks pretty, like many plant twigs sewn together lol
