For those of you who don't already know, the RIAA keeps a list of it's member labels online. I keep a print copy in my wallet and take it with me whenever I go music shopping, to be sure that I don't accidentally buy one of their albums.

I agree with Nate. If you really want to make a point this way that's fine, but you're not getting anyone's attention by deciding not to buy one or two albums every month. Enjoying the music is what it's all about, and making your whole life into a political statement won't make your life any better.

If you want to stop a bit the "still more protection" process, buy anything you want and return it if it is protected. That will hurt. And it is far more easy that to try to find a thing coming from outside the RIAA

I'm not trying to get anyone's attention. I'm just trying to help out by buying music directly from the artist, or buying from independent labels. I like rather obscure music, so this is no problem for me.
