Nice-how’s infinity sound out of SP2000? They seem to vary by source

Absolutely awesome in my opinion!
The SP2000 is less neutral than the SP1000 but transparent enough to enjoy the SQ of the Infinity (and by far more transparent than my previously owned Sony WM1Z).
The SP2000 has more bodied medium than the SP1000, bass has more impact without being too harsh, and treble are nice and delicate.

I am interested to try both Supreme and Infinity on the SP2K too.

Also some encouraging news on the pairing of Infinity2 and OC Frozen. Vs stock cable, Frozen adds body and weight to mids and bass. Notes are thicker and there is a slight increase in sub bass. Also hear sound stage opening further.

OCAux I believe is a gold plated silver cable and should add body and weight to Infinity as well. At least that is my experience with GPS cables or cables with gold in them.

Great! Can’t wait to read your impressions!

Between the Supreme 2 and Noir, the Rhapsodio is the more technically superior IEM but that's not the full story.

Both the Infinity 2 and Supreme 2 are masters at layering, separation and imaging. I have not heard another TOTL IEM which can match both Rhapsodios in those departments but I must admit I have not heard the TOTLs from both MMR and Noble.

Sound stage on the Noir is excellent in all axis and the Supreme 2 matches it but the presentation on both IEMs are very different.

The Noir has a more airy presentation while the Supreme gives a noticeably thicker and more full bodied presentation. Although Noir is tuned for warmer mids with a bump in the lower mids vs the original Fourte, Supreme's mids has more weight to it's notes through its frequency range. Mids on the Supreme are more forward with rich, organic and smooth vocals. Vocals and instruments on Supreme have excellent timber and tonality and I really love how real voices sound on certain recordings. There were more than a couple of times I got spooked by voices that seem to appear in front of me while I was listening and doing work at the same time. In terms of resolution and clarity, Supreme is performing at a higher level than the Noir but the gap is not huge. If Vocals are the main genre you listen to, Supreme is the better performer although the Noir is no slouch either.

I have not done more in depth comparison on treble performance between both but I believe the Noir has better extension. However, similar to mids, notes in the higher registers on the Supreme have more weight.

Coming to bass, my opinion is that nothing beats a DD driver for sub bass. The Supreme is not for bass heads and is tuned for a more bass neutral presentation. There is no artificial bump in the lower registers and it gives what the track calls for. It has very good mid bass and sub bass is able to go deep when the track calls for it but the Noir's sub bass goes lower, is more visceral and has better texture. Sub bass performance from the magnetostatic driver on the Supreme seem to lie between a BA and DD driver. It has the BA characteristics of speed and short decay but at the same time, I can hear and feel the motion of air similar to what you get from a DD driver.

At this point of time, I find both to be extremely capable and are in my top 3. The Noir is currently my all rounder and an excellent IEM. It is the one I pick up when I stream to discover new music as it is able to do all genres well The Supreme is my Vocal specialist and is currently pretty unbeatable in that department. The organic and life like vocal performance is just so intoxicating.

Picture of my favorite IEMs 😎, and next to them is just the infinity.

/sarcasm lol

I am still enjoying sooo much the Infinity II and AK SP2000 combo
The Infinity II are easy with all kind of music. Never agressive. Even on long listening session they are never tiring.
But I'm not getting used to the stock cable which is not confortable and I would like to change it.
From previous discussion seems that a good candidate would be the OC Frozen but I was wondering if the EA Code 51 or the Eletech Iliad could be even better?
I'm looking for more details, more soundstage and more warmth if possible. More impact on bass (but not more bass) would also be good. And of course something soft and confortable.
I prefer a high end cable so I will not be tempted to change it again in a few month :k701smile:
Thanks !

I've been doing some cable rolling on the Infinity 2 in the last couple of days.

If you wish to maintain the largest sound stage and the airy presentation, stay with the stock cable. I am not sure what magic is in that cable but it still gives the largest sound stage amongst the cables tried.

If you crave for deeper bass, go for the 1960s 2W. I have never imagined the sub bass on the Infinity2 to be able to go that low but the 1960s proved it to be possible. I tried the 4W version as well but bass became tiring after a while. However, it gives a narrower sound stage vs stock but still very good in absolute terms.

My current fav pairing (although my fav changes according to mood) is the Infinity with EA Horus 4W for my vocal genres. It gives more forward and to me sweeter mids. Bass quantity is in between stock and 1960s which is more than good enough for me as I am no bass head. Resolution and clarity is still tops. A very refined and smooth presentation overall.

I did not attempt to try the OC Frozen as the blue cable did not match the copper colored Infinity.

Hope the above helps.

Thanks for your answer hshock76! I remember indeed that you already told me some time ago that the stock cable has the best synergy with Infinity mk II.

I asked on the Effect Audio forum and EA answer was the following : "If you're considering Code 51, expect an in increase in resolution and transparency; a greater amount of detail and overall finesse to the sound. If you value technical performance and can afford it, you can't go wrong".

Had a similar answer from Eletech : "With the Socrates, it retains the original signature whilst removing the veil on the upper mids and highs, adding a sense of airiness and much needed extension to the mix. While for Iliad, the pairing synergy is simply stupendous! What iliad brings onto the mix is dynamism, texture, layering and the compactness of the lows and mids enhancing it's musicality and immersiveness. Soundstage is a huge improvement over the stock cable both in depth and height ; Width remains largely unchanged."

I must admit that I'm a bit lost

From the headphonelist.com when they compared the Code 51 to the Illiad : "The Code 51 is more neutral in that regard with a preference for tightness. As a result, the Illiad – like the Janus – is the more musical, organic-sounding one, while the Code 51 is the more clinical separator. Now, moving onto delivery, the Illiad’s transients are noticeably softer and more rounded, while the Code 51 comes off a bit harder-edged."

I think that the Illiad better suits my hearing preferences but I find it a bit risky to "invest" nearly 1800 USD if nobody has tested the Infinity mk II with the Illiad.

Any thoughts, comments?

Thanks and stay safe!

I unfortunately didn’t have the Iliad with me during my Infinity days but it’s a superb pairing for the Elysium, which I still feel the Infinity is a mostly direct upgrade on.

So, assuming that the Iliad also heightens all of the frequencies while staying very smooth for the Infinity as it does for the Elysium, it very well has potential to be a great pairing. But Infinity is way too source sensitive to speculate so hopefully you can demo around!

For what it’s worth, I’ve tried Socrates with Infinity and stock cable pairs way better for airy and “holographic” purposes IMO.

I did try Code51 with Infinity2 and found the presentation too clinical and cold for my liking. The descriptions for the cables are general in nature while in reality synergy counts a lot, especially when Infinity2 I find is very sensitive to source and cable rolling.

Stock cable still has the best balance to me and I honestly do not see any point changing it. It’s 2W and still very flexible to me while the color is a perfect match
