Stumbled upon this thread after reading that the 7550 is recommended for people who like the Audeze LCD-2 sound, which I'm currently trying out on a loan from a gracious HF member.  The most I've spent on an IEM is on the Dunu DN-1000, being more of a headphone person.  Problem being, open headphones don't really mix well with outdoor walks, hell the HE-400 is pretty much an outward speaker.  Has anyone here listened to both the DN-K and the 7550?  I'm curious how the bass of the two compare.  I like the bass on the DN-K, but would certainly not complain if the 7550 wins out in that category, it sounds like a rather promising IEM.

EX1000 cable is killer.  I really love the 7550 because it's a steal at only $249.

Have you tried mixing 7550 with ex1000 cable?  Did you notice improvements?

One owner in the ex800st thread (ex800st = 7550 in Japan) claim that mixing ex800st (7550) with ex1000 cable will yield "improved" soundstage, slightly reduce mid-bass bump and lessen the 6 kHz bump in the frequency so it doesn't sound harsh.

I recommended an amp because they are dynamic driver. If it was a 16ohm BA, I wouldn't have recommended an amp. It requires more power than BA drivers. Though they do sound perfectly fine without an amp.

according to Innerfidelity's MDR 7550 charts the power needed for 90dB SPL is just 0.02 mW, and ER-4 single balanced armature is 0.03 mW.

I personally think getting enough volume is different from getting enough power. It's like SRH940. My laptop can drive it to ear blowing level, but it definitely improves(especially the bass) with a decent amp.

Just ordered for $249. Can't wait to hook 'em up with RSA 71-B.
So far, IE80 was keeping me busy. Let's see how Sony compares with Sennheiser.
