It is funny how differently we all hear. Head-fi.org and great audio is a very imprecise science it seems.

Also, I do find myself hearing minute differences between gain levels, mainly the bass getting a bit tighter and the highs getting more energetic. Any thoughts on that as well?

Yea with higher gain levels the bass gets tighter. I think of it as a upwards slope in terms of EQ. A tilt towards the treble. Which is also why I try not to use high gain, as the treble can get distracting for something like rock.

I suppose it varries with IEMs.  I kinda liked hi with my Angies, as their treble is extended but not shreaky.  It's hard to know sometimes.

Yea i guess. Could be especially for me since my iems tend to have treble peaks

He is doing well, he watches the threads quite a bit. We're basically getting ready for shows like Canjam and Axpona next month so we're pretty deep in show season.

I just got my new QP1R, and I have a question.
 
Has anyone figured out a good way to block the Line Out port? (I'm worried that I'll plug headphones in by accident, which would be a disaster. I bought these plastic plugs, but they deactivate the headphone port when inserted.)

Cut it shorter? Though i am not really sure if that gonna works. If you are going to try that, make sure don't push in too much that might end up stuck.
