Claimed acoustic benefits; specific sound quality claims, specific sound quality benefit claims, that is what I mean.

Thanks again for not claiming specific sound quality claims and benefits on this thread.

OK.

It seems as if mid gain on the Questyle QP1R gives the Shure SRH1540s their best detail retrieval.  High gain muddies and congests things.

I use high gain on all.. just less spinning for volume and no SQ differences for me.

It is funny how differently we all hear. Head-fi.org and great audio is a very imprecise science it seems.

I have heard talk that using high gain, especially for sensitive IEMs, can be detrimental and decrease the average lifespan of the iem. Any thoughts/ experience on this??

Also, I do find myself hearing minute differences between gain levels, mainly the bass getting a bit tighter and the highs getting more energetic. Any thoughts on that as well?

Is that with higher gain levels that the bass gets tighter?  I'm thinking I noticed that, but wasn't sure it wasn't due to volume adjustment or Fletcher-Munson perseptions.

Yea with higher gain levels the bass gets tighter. I think of it as a upwards slope in terms of EQ. A tilt towards the treble. Which is also why I try not to use high gain, as the treble can get distracting for something like rock.

I suppose it varries with IEMs.  I kinda liked hi with my Angies, as their treble is extended but not shreaky.  It's hard to know sometimes.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about Bruce Ball recently? I know he had some health issues, just wondering if he was ok, sorry for the derail

He is doing well, he watches the threads quite a bit. We're basically getting ready for shows like Canjam and Axpona next month so we're pretty deep in show season.

I just got my new QP1R, and I have a question.

Has anyone figured out a good way to block the Line Out port? (I'm worried that I'll plug headphones in by accident, which would be a disaster. I bought these plastic plugs, but they deactivate the headphone port when inserted.)

Cut it shorter? Though i am not really sure if that gonna works. If you are going to try that, make sure don't push in too much that might end up stuck.
