Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
Aug 15, 2016 at 7:40 AM Post #2,446 of 7,141
Is there a way to turn off the device when the headphone plug remains in the jack? I left my headphones plugged in last night and powered down with the power button but the battery was dead in the morning. It seems there is no auto shutdown if the headphones remain plugged in? Is there a workaround for this?

Has anyone had any problems with their qp1r and have had to send it back for repair.  I have just sold my qp1r on ebay and the buyer has said it was faulty when I not it is not.  He has put a dispute with ebay.    He is not being very specific in his claim only that he cannot get the device to be recognised.  I have sent a ton load of helpful instructions with the help of this forum.  He has now sent it back to the distributor (Planet Gizmo UK) for repair.  I just wondered what he feels can be wrong with it.  He asked for a refund on the day he received it saying that it was faulty.  I don't hold much hope for ebay taking my side.  I just wondered why he has sent the device away for repair when the case is in dispute.

Any feedback welcomed.

thanks

Just got my new QP1R that I purchased for my HIFIMAN HE 1000 based on the reviews that it drives these headphones well for traveling. I had initially auditioned the HEK with a Cypher Labs Theorem 720 Amp/ DAC and found the volume needed to be almost maxed out but only on some recordings. However, the SQ with the QP1R is inferior IMO to the Cypher labs stack. I found that the QP1R needed to be on a volume level of 58 to 60 most of the time to even get close to the power of the Cypher labs amp that also had a wider sound stage but not at equal volume setting. I made sure the gain was set on high for the QP1R. So I guess it is a better player for more efficient phones. Still looking for something portable all in one device for the HEK. THE QUEST GOES ON.
hello , you put the gain in high, right? Sorry for the stupid question but with my 400i that have 93db/mw (he1000 90db/mw) for normal to loud level is from 30 to 40 , from 40 to 50 with normal recordings is going to be not good for me eardrums 58 to 60 for me is not usable

Auto Shutdown option in the Settings. I fall asleep with my player and headphones all the time. I think that the default setting is 10 minutes.

Are u referring to Idle power off? According to the instruction manual system suits down automatically only when the "earphone output or optical fiber output are NOT connected and no operation made for ten minutes". So if your headphones are plugged in there is no auto shutdown and the battery drains of
You fall asleep??!

The instructions are wrong if that's what it reads. Yes, I fall asleep with my IEM's and music playing all the time. If I start listening to an album and fall asleep at some point, the player shuts down automatically once the album has finished playing and it has been idle for 10 minutes. I've never woken up to find my playing still on. So no unnecessary battery drain.

Not sure if this helps, but if you just press and release the power button it only turns the screen off. You need to press and hold the power button to shut the unit off.

Exactly a year ago, I arrived at Canjam London 2015, and before getting into the hall, I was listening to Maurice's preview QP1R! I kind of knew straightaway one would be mine. But unable to order for months in the UK, slight concern over loose volume control and strange lack of playing an Artist's albums via metadata, caused me to wait. Receiving a Mojo also took away the urgency, then just when I decided to purchase a QP1R, UK Brexit caused a £100 price rise!

But Canjam 2016, 10% reduction show offer, and still being the best standalone DAP to my ears, I should be receiving one in a day or two. Finally join you guys, love the gold one :)

PS, Great to meet you again Maurice, wonder if you won last night, sorry couldn't be there. But my wife Barbara took a nice picture Saturday!

Welcome aboard Andrew.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I.

Any signs of the (a little praised) new firmware?

I'm curious myself.  Could use a little friendly update.

For the new update I am asking Santa for a slight modification to the auto shutdown feature, a 30 minute setting...

I'm hoping for more than 9,999 songs being catalogued and music selection by artist, album, then song.

I'm just asking for the danged thing to be released BEFORE Christmas!

These guys really need to take a page from FiiO's book and pump out fairly regular beta builds.  Let the user's provide feedback on what works (and what doesn't).
Waiting a month (or three) for an update with maybe one useful feature is not the way to run a railroad.  Too many potential user's may jump ship before the next firmware hits the street that addresses their need.

Come on Questyle, you've got the hottest TOTL hardware around in a DAP (except, maybe, the scroll wheel).  Get on the ball with firmware updates already!
Sorry about the rant...just venting...
Cheers and Good Luck!
