  Folks,

Need to know whether these would be a significant upgrade from Senn HD558 which I'm currently pairing with FiiO X3 + FiiO E12A.

I don't think so, although the L1 is more solid and luxurious.

  Folks,

Need to know whether these would be a significant upgrade from Senn HD558 which I'm currently pairing with FiiO X3 + FiiO E12A. For portable use I'm using either of Havi B3 Pro1 or Denon D340 headphones. I'm targeting the Fidelio X2 for home use later this year, so please advise whether at 100 USD + shipping (Massdrop sale) these are worth more than the X2's.

Thanks in advance, cheers

I doubt it would a significant upgrade, but do expect the L1 to sound better. They are a good deal at $100 that is for sure. From what I've read the X2 is a significant upgrade on the L1.

Senn HD558 sounds more open and airy than the L1, with less bass. But the HD 558 sounded wrong to me when I tested them. I used them both straight from my phone however.

I would consider the Creative Aurvana Live an upgrade to both the L1 and the HD 558.

I've decided to wait for the Fidelio X2 purchase, either through Massdrop or Amazon. Till then I'm pretty satisfied with my current rigs.
Thanks for your inputs, cheers.

I'm surprised the L1 is still in production given that the L2 has been around almost 2 years.

SHP9500 also seems like an upgrade in SQ for a cheaper price.

I have and really enjoy the X2. Would it be redundant to get the L1? I was hoping they would work better for when I lay down in my bed to read. I'm not a fan of IEM's, so I'm trying to find some good headphones for this.
