A nice review of several headphones appears on page 46 of the October/November issue of the Absolute Sound magazine. The following headphones are reviewed: Proline 650, 750, 2500, HFI-2200ULE; Sennheiser HD650; AKG K 501; Grado SR325i; and Shure E5c. The reviewer liked the AKG K 501 best, and the Sure E5c least.

Let me guess--most of the test material was classical?

Like who contributed the most to advertising or under the table kick backs to the reviewer?

Be careful of commercial reviews.

Not anything like the situation at HF, where the person with the newest toy is always the most eager to give it the highest rating after 8 hours of listening.

Sorry, couldn't resist

Bias is everywhere. One just needs to be careful to state one's own and to read others when they are not telling it.

The main reviewer was Dan Schwartz, and he used the following music: the JVC XRCD of the Reiner "Also Sprach Zarathustra"; something called "Zarathustra" intro; and an LP version of Joni Mitchell's "Blue".
