I thought I had made up my mind on the "RP-21s", however an incident occurred yesterday that has brought me back into uncertainty.

Yesterday I went to a local audio equipment supplier to purchase the "RP-21s", however three minutes after I took them out of the box I noticed a shaking sound in one of the speakers (loose screw or something). I decided to return the headphones and just order a new pair. Right before I left to return the phones I decided to check this website to see if anyone else had anything to say about the "RP-21s".

While checking this website for info I discovered the "Denon AH-D1000". I really like what I've read about them so far, and I'm thinking that they make actually work better for me then the "RP-21s".

The main reason I'm planing on purchasing headphones is for producing music in a closed-off environment, so I'm really looking for a pair of phones that provide a flat realistic sound. Are the "AH-D1000" as flat as the "RP-21's"?

If the "AH-D1000s" are as flat as the "RP-21s" i think I'm going to purchase those instead, however if the sound of the "AH-D1000" isn't nearly as flat as the "RP-21s" i think I'll probably stick with the "RP-21s".

I'd really appreciate your opinions on which of these headphones I should buy.

I agree with you on the RP-21's. When I tested them out, those were my thoughts exactly. I haven't heard the D1000's, but they are supposed to be more balanced and flat than the RP-21's. I'm getting my pair on monday hopefully, and I'll let you know what I think.

Thanks Souperman. I'd really like to hear what you think of them.

The only thing that concerns me with the "AH-D1000s" is the issue with isolation. Though i don't plan on using these particularly for portable use, it would be nice to be able to wear my headphones in public every once and a while (especially in College).

I'm looking forward to Skylab's review of both the "AH-D1000s" and the "RP-21s". It'll be really interesting to see how they compare to each other.
