Neutrik makes a nice 1/4" plug

Due to the thickness of the cable I would recommend a Switchcraft. If you want to go the bigger is better route go for the Canare but that little bugger is huge. I typically use Neutrik when I build cables but the shell opening is typically too small for OEM cables.

I use Redco alot since they are in CT and I usually receive an order within 3-4 days since I'm in NY. I see that audioadapters prices are a bit better though I don't know what their shipping costs are like. I may give them a try with my next hardware order. Thanks for that link threEchelon!

threEchelon thanx! a west coast supplier even. anybody done this with their akg 701s? i think i will have some problems because instead of one ground cable there are two terminating at the plug, i think.

It's not hard to deal with, just twist the two grounds together and solder them to the ground connection the 1/8" connector.

No problem. Fitz turned me on to audioadapter.com. I had been using audiogear.com before. How silly of me.

Beware, you may receive your order in multiple packages. I got one order in three separate boxes. I thought they had messed up my order because I never thought it could come in three shipments.

Actually, they did mess up my order. I got extra Switchcraft barrels.

Fitz said he's received extra parts too.

Also, be sure to order through the shopping cart. That way you make sure you get the discounted prices (compared to audiogear.com).
