After hearing Robert Miles and Trolika Gurtu's incredible Miles_Gurtu album, I feel the need to explore a genre that I've disregarded as merely art with no substance. I need some recommendations of other works that are similar in style/sound/tonality/whatever to this album, presumably in the electro jazz category, but I'm not bound to it if it's going to blow my socks off. So, what have you got?

I haven't heard the album you mentioned but for electronics jazz you could try out Bugge Wesseltoft; "Moving" has been his most influential album so far and it's very good on top of that.

Erik Truffaz although less "electric" is very good, too. Might be worth giving the amazon samples a try.

Another popular vote is De-Phazz but I find to too shallow most of the time, better suited for background lounge music; "Godsdog" is a popular album.

A less well-known European act is Nils Petter Molvaer, a Norwegian trumpeter.

The standard recommendation, however, has to be St.Germain's acclaimed album "Tourist".

An excellent electronic jazz sampler is "Verve Remixed" which uses jazz classic and as the title suggests remixes them. This CD has been played over and over again in clubs and rightly so.

My favorite song on the Verve Remixed album is "Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby."

What a great beat!

Thanks for the recommendations!

I will say, I dislike De-Phazz's sound - it's got that lounge sound to it to which I hold a deep aspersion, for some reason (perhaps it's connection to the nihilism of the "couch culture" from which it arouse).

Not sure if this qualifies, but I like Tied & Tickled Trio.
