so my M50s went kaput a few days ago so im back on a search.
They lasted a very good amount of time so im not mad they broke finally.

looking at about a 200 dollar budget
Beyerdynamic DT770 keep coming up, I still like lots of sound and I love bass. I don't really want to go open back because I don't want to disturb others around me so much. I'll run them off my computer or pa2v2 until I upgrade that.

I'm also about to buy an amp to replace my PA2V2 choices im looking at there are at about a 100-130

Schiit Magi
JDS labs Atom
O2 Amp

Anyone has any other recommendations im open

Beyerdynamic dt250 80ohm,Mackie mc-250.Both are easy to drive and I have an hrt microstreamer which works well.In the past I had a dragonfly black which was also good value.

bought some Beyerdynamic custom pro yesterday waiting on them to come in, still looking to upgrade the amp though im still looking at Schiit and JDS Labs stacks though. I like the look at feel of Schiit but everything I've read states JDSis the better sounding stack with a better amp setup.

No everything you’ve read says the JDS measured better and doesn’t mean it sounds better. Most of those measurements are in the inaudible range and pretty sure you or I can’t hear the difference. The JDS Labs Atom is a very good amp So is the Schiit Magni3 and not a big difference between the two. To be honest I don’t own a Atom but have heard it and do own a Magni3 plus many others . Either would be good.

Noted, but I’ve seen videos of people preferring the sound as well without measurements.

They are cheap, I think I’ll buy the magni and modi give it a try, if I’m not feeling it I’ll get something more substantial. I do see a freya or something comparable at some point in my future.

I have a pretty decent home audio setup and pretty decent mobile audio setup in my car as well. So I can get pretty analytical about my sound. My main purpose for the bass heavy headphone setup is not bothering neighbors or family members while I listen to loud tunes as well as game with them on.

So just plugging into my iPhone, I hate the custom pros, from my Audio-Technica all upper detail is gone, they aren’t as loud they sound muddy. Just over all not impressed at all with them. So basically at the moment I completely regret my purchase.

Dunno if I should hold onto them til I get an amp for them or return them at the moment but I don’t think I have ever been more underwhelmed.

After a few days with them, they are going back. I cant get over how laid back everything is and the bass doesnt even really sound good either. I think im looking at some Monolith M560 Planars, as it seems like thats the type of drivers that will give me that in your face sound that im looking for. if anyone has any thoughts please respond

If you want in your face bass you are definitely wanting a dynamic driver. Planars will have really good bass but for the most part will not be in your face.

Not necessarily just bass. Kinda want loudness while having some decently tight bass. The beyerdynamics I’m sending back were reseated everywhere but the bass then the bass was sloppy as every setting

Not for sure of your budget but the TR-X00’s are very bass heavy and then ZMF brings the bass and also the rest of the sound signature.

So far it looks like things in my range are

Sennheiser hd6xx
Akg k7xx
Hifiman 400i or 4xx
Monoprice monolith m560

I’ve kinda gave up on them being closed back if I can get a good amount of sound and them give me a decent amount of volume off the Magni/Modi I just bought today.
