Hello, I’m a newbie to this forum and I’m Portuguese so please excuse my poor English.

My current rig is sennheiser hd590/rega ear/nad c542. I like the sound of the HD590 but they are a little too bright for my taste. I would like to choose a headphone with a less tiring sound. My doubt is between the HD600 and the HD650. Considering my current rig, which of them will be the best option?

Many thanks in advance

Have you thought about getting an upgrade cable or an equalizer for your setup? There are a lot of people that enjoy the 590s; I'm wondering if you can save some money and time instead of going the HD600 series route.

Good luck!

Key word of the day. You will be happy with HD600 or HD650. Although this has been discussed many many times before HD600 has a bit more livelier highs (treble) than HD650. HD650's highs are slightly more recessed than HD600, but crystal clean (softer in volume but clearer) plus HD650 has a fuller bass and less distortion in the middle than HD600. If you have $, I would say go with HD650. If you are little tight on the budget or prefer slightly forward sounding cans than HD650, you might want to pick up HD600.

That's odd, reading through the archives I get the impression most Head-Fiers consider the new generation Senns more forward than the classic 580/590/600 lineup.

I depends on your budget. If money is no object, then I would suggest the HD650 since it is better than the HD600. But if your looking for a "Bang-for-the-buck" phone, the HD600 is the obvious choice since its a lot cheaper than the HD650 & is not far behind the HD650 when it comes to sound quality. The differences in sound between the two is minimal in my opinion.
