there are more than four people with the 010 at Head-Fi (though not that much more)... guess the others don't post as much, or missed this thread.

Nik - I'll have my secretary give the Qualia store a call on Monday. I've gotten the usual full "customer is king" service from them on other similar requests. Though I'm not optimistic about being able to get these items separately. You just want a replacement headband net thing (actually I want this too) and red pads?

In case they ask, what size is your Qualia? Small?

Best,

-Jason

Hi Jason,

yes, a pair of red pads, headband (cloth), my Qualia is a small size !

Thanks a lot for your help...

Best!

I asked Qualia about getting a replacement headband, since I'm on the border betweeen medium and small and wanted to try the smaller size to see if I could find a better fit there. Sony would not sell a spare headband, however, if after adjusting the Qualia as best I can I find that I really need the smaller size, they are willing to replace the entire headphone. That's all that they could get permission/parts to do out of Sony/Japan.

The people I've talked to at Qualia US are nice folks who will go out of their way to show that customer service is part of the Qualia package. I only hope that some of this rubs off on the rest of Sony.

I was about to order the headband cloth and a replacement cable. I was going to ask EIFL first actually. Perhaps I'd better head straight over to Sony (for all the help they were to me the last time).

The cloth handband seems identical to that fitted on the SA5000. Can anyone confirm?

So I have the response from Qualia:

1. They can't provide just the cloth part of the headband. You can get the entire headband replaced. The part would cost 51,870 yen.

2. The leather earpads need to be sent back to the factory to be replaced. You can't just replace the leather, as due to fitting issues they'll need to have an engineer work on it. This likely will cost a lot (i.e., more than $1,000 USD). They suggest if it is just the leather, to look into cleaners and what not.

3. It would be helpful to identify who actually bought the headphones for you. Buyers are registered in their system and they'd need to track how you obtained them.

Best,

-Jason
