Hi!

I wonder which pads I should replace my comfys with to lower the piercing heights.
I've been thinking about the Grado Bowls or the Grado Flats, but what do you think?

Really, comfies do the best job of all pads at taming the highs of Grados. I had the same problem as you and went through every pad: comfies, HD414 pads, bowls, flats and radioshack pads. Out of all of these, comfies provided the most relief from fatiguing highs, all the other pads just made the highs worse. The only real option to taming the highs is to get a Grado with more controlled highs, like the MS1 or SR225.

For me the flats had the most impact on the highs on my 225s (have tried bowls, reversed bowls, flats, comfies, C-Pads). There are some tradeoffs though as things do become a little more congested overall with flats.

Okay, thanks for the answers.
Even though my comfys apparently is the best against the heights, they makes the music sound a bit muddy sometimes.

I wonder therefor if it's worth to buy a set of bowls or flats to get more out of the music? And if yes, which should I go for?
The bowls, the flats or maybe comfys with holes in it?

Thanks for the help...

I know that some folks have left the comfies on but than added bowls or flats on top of that. A bit of a stretch perhaps, but it may get you closer to what you're looking for.

The alternative, of course, if you want to stay with the Grado "sound" would be to go with the MS-1s at near what you paid for your SR-60s. They are a bit more neutral.

Beyond that there are the SR-225, MS2i and RS-2 which are also a bit warmer.

Well, to be honest, I’m not very interested in selling my grados after less than a week usage. Maybe I should have gone with the Alessandro from the beginning...

The idea of stretching a pair of bowls over the comfys might be a good idea.
Maybe I should buy a pair of those and try that, or just use the bowls instead of the comfys.
I mean, how big difference is it between the SR60 and the SR80 besides the bowls?
And the SR80 isn’t screamy, so what’s the difference?

I also wonder if having the sound-enhancer in iTunes on maximum makes the music on the Ipod noisy, or if that option only controls the playback in iTunes?
