Replacement for AV-710

So my AV-710 broke on me and I am looking into possible replacements. My current setup is:

AV710 hi-def mode ==> Custom built Beta22 ==> ATH-AD2000

Currently, I do not see getting a DAC as financially viable in the near future since if I do spend money on a DAC, I won't settle for anything worse than a top end.

Alternatively, I may consider getting a cheap DAC as my AV-710 replacement, but I am considering sound cards first because they seem to be cheaper for about the same quality.

I like the Prodigy HD2 with new opamps.

A used M-Audio Revolution 5.1(or 7.1, but people say 5.1 is better) or Audiophile 2496 will be enough. You may also try the E-MU 1212M.
