Anybody having tried (and succeeded

) to build a replacement cable for HD600s, of a quality comparable to the Cardas and Equinox stuff?

If so, how exactly? Which were the "raw materials" used?

I wonder if one could obtain the big improvement without having to spend 150$ or more

Thanks!

I havn't done this, but IIRC, the only way to terminate the headphone end is to buy a replacement cable and chop off the rest of the cable.

OK, but what kind of replacement cable to buy?

Should I buy, let's say, a Grado extension cable, cut off one end and solder the Sennheiser plugs (which I would have previously cut from the stock cable)?

Or should I rather buy a determined length of "raw" cable (WHICH ONE??? this is the question

) then solder at one end a headphone jack and to the other end the Sennheiser plugs?

I;m not sure if this will help you but i read somewhere that the part of the hd600 plug that goes to the headphone is the integrated w/ the rest of the cable so you wont be able to get the plugs separately.
