Replacement batteries for Slim-X?

I just checked Iriver's website and they are out of NiMH 1450mah gumsticks until November. I love my 550 but lately a charge only seems to last like 7hrs. It lasts longer if I discharge the battery, then recharge but I thought you were only supposed to do that once a month. I only listen to straight CD sat around 34 volume setting with no EQ. Any other place I can pick up new batteries or does anyone know any tricks I can use to extend the life of these babies?

listen to mp3 and turn down the volume. if its a portable heaphone you have 34 is way too loud.

there is even a website that sell 2 and a charge for $30, but couldnt find it anymore.
