I've got a set of approx 8yr old Beyerdynamic 880DT, 600ohm version. It appears one of the drivers has died( i've already replaced the cable i checked the resistance of the failed driver and its completely open circuit, so pretty confident its the driver). I'm able to source replacement drivers at about AUD$68 plus postage but i'd prefer to only replace a single one, due to the cost.

Is this a terrible idea? Or should i be replacing both due, as one of them would have seen a huge deal of use and the other completely new? Or would i get away with just replacing one and then maybe running white through that channel for half a day?

Apologies if its a stupid question or has been answered elsewhere

Better to buy new headphones.
with fixed pair of drivers and new pads and headband.

the multimetter cant meathore the 600ohm second driver?

I ordered my spare parts from here: https://www.showcomms.com/beyer/dt8...-dt880-600-ohm-loudspeaker-driver-980252.html
but you'r actual frame may made of metel with holes

please take some pictures of the drivers and the headphones.
and think about the option to buy a new one for additional new parts that you will need.
