Does anyone know how to remove the wooden earcups from the metal bails? The swivel pins don't seem to want to budge. I want to try the aluminum 325i earcups in the RS-1 headband/bail assembly.

i'm thinking you have to take that white mesh thats glued onto the driver guard with holes in it.. then you probably pry that metal open..?? i don't know i never really tried, or thought about it that much.. but if you actually do this, please include pics!! i'm eager to see what the rs drivers look like!

Do some searches and I believe you'll come across some instructions. Just be very careful. I've heard horror stories of people breaking the wooden chambers. I've modded many headphones and comfortable with tearing them down completely. But my RS-1s... I don't touch them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's just looking to remove the cup/driver from the metal ring holding it in place - something easily done with the SR series and the RS-2, but not so easy on the RS-1.

I don't have the answer, but just wanted to clarify in case you aren't looking to disassemble the chambers themselves.

That's exactly what I am trying to do. I seem to recall someone here saying that one of the pins pops out, but I don't want to force anything. Just looking to see if there is a clean, easy method.

Couldn't you take the end cap off of the rod(s) and slide the rod all of the way out of the black "L" and "R" plastic pieces? Do the same with the 325i's and then reassemble them with traded headbands.

I think he wanted to use the metal RS1 assemlby with the 325s, and in any case, the round rods are too small for the RS1 blocks.

You're right. If you want to trade out the gimbals also (right word?), than that would be a different project.

Even though the RS-1's posts are square and lower models are round, I thought I heard that both would fit in the basic post friction grip. I suppose you could build up the 325i's posts with tape or clear nail polish in the right spot if you had to.

Well, the round rods might fit the RS1 blocks (not tried) but the RS1 rods won't fit a round rod block. The round rod has a diameter of 1/8th of an inch, and the square rods are the same measurement per side, so the diagonal will be slightly bigger.

If my grasp of pythagoras (or rather, my grasp of converting fractions to decimals) is right, you'd need a 0.176 inch diameter hole for a RS1 square rod, vs a 0.125 inch for a round rod.

Yes, That's right. I want to put the 325i aluminum air chambers in the RS-1 metal gimbals. Anyone know how to get the RS-1 wood chambers out of the metal gimbals? This is what I need to do first.
