Looks like Apple have carved it up - I'm kinda surprised everyone has a pop at Microsoft and Bill Gates when Apple go around doing this kind of thing.

I love my Ipod but there's no ****ing way I'm ever buying anything else from these fascist breadheads.

Any company who behaved like that deserved to lose all their customers - I'm really surprised they have such a loyal user base with that kind of behaviour.

Ever tried posting something negative about their products on their user forums - won't stay there long.

Unless you're really slack, there's no way that a company will allow unauthorised distribution of system firmware. Get over it.

*cough*There is of course little policing of such matters when PM's and emails are used to exchange such files *cough*

On the other hand, there's this which had me falling off the chair laughing. The poster seems to have done the homework and if he's right it's clearly a case of the placebo effect.

It's kinda like thinking that upping the gain in itunes or xplay will magically make your songs louder without adding any distortion.

I agree that Apple isn't the kind and loving company that Apple Lemmings seem to think it is, they're out to screw you at least as much as Microsoft, and there's just no acceptable excuse for giving all the EU crappy French firmware.... and yes with the headphones that we use here it's enough volume, but it's annoying becaues I know it's there and I know I'm getting screwed over.

Ah. It seems the moderators have moved or deleted the post.

However the EU regulations state that no audio product with headphones is permitted to exceed 100db with the headphones shipped with the unit. In the language it was originally proposed in, "Les écouteurs livrés d’origine avec ce produit garantissent le non dépassement de la puissance maximale de 100dB SPL."

The key phrase is "Les écouteurs livrés d’origine avec ce produit". If the shipped earphones are very efficient (e.g. Sony) then anything else will sound too quiet. Apple by dint of their relatively inefficient earphones don't fare too badly.

You are railing at the wrong party.

I hope you all printed out these instructions, because Apple sent the guy who hosted the webpage a "cease and decist" letter and he has been forced to remove them.

Man, Apple sounds like a facist organization to me!

I would never buy any products from them!

Yeah, and don't even get me started on how they were/are to the skinning community. Skins of Os ports can actually help _sell_ an OS. Miscrosoft understood that years ago...

On the one hand, this imac is the best computer I have used, and OSx is a joy to use... on the other, Apple deserves to die a painful death as they have been for the past 2 decades.
