Creative's muvo2 (4 GB) was my first mp3 player, bought well over 4 years ago. I've still got a soft spot for it, even though it has a tiny screen. I was always impressed by the SQ and immediately got a JB3 whilst they were still available. The only other additions since then have been an iRiver H140 and the original 1GB iPod Shuffle (I've always tended to buy older models for some reason????).

Well the 4 GB microdrive has failed, and I'm tempted to put a CF card into it. I've done a search and found some threads that point to the instructions. For those who remember the muvo2, do you think this would be a good idea, or do you reckon I should buy a newer flash player?

The muvo2 would mainly be used in the car (and using a cassette adapter), and it had a fairly powerful amp of 30 mW (I think).

Anyway, I'm interested in the thoughts of those who remember Creative's old sound?

Cheers

Hmm that was my first too.

Mine just died recently too. It was my fault though I was messing around with a new amp and I shorted the outputs of the muvo/ inputs of the amp. dooh

When my MuVo TX died recently, I went out and got the MuVo2 second hand, and I'm using it now

Powerful enough to drive my full sized headphones

Yeah, even now it still has quite decent sound quality compared to most el cheapo DAPs available now (exception being of course the big guns from Sony, Kenwood, Apple etc). Very low SNR and distortion with the only issue being the interface and yeap, the small screen

Thanks for the offer Spasticteapot, but I reckon I'll convert it to a "sturdier" flash player

rapier84 - I agree that it has a pretty powerful headphone out, and as I still have a charger and case for it, I reckon I will (attempt) to fix it.

I'll probably keep it purely as the car player. I was going to ask how large a CF card you could use (I know someone put 8 GB in it a couple of years ago), but I reckon I'll just stick with a relatively cheap 4 GB. That's large enough for a player with a filetree navigation system on a miniscule screen. Plus I just know that I will end up getting a flash player further down the track with higher capacity and better screen - Cowon D2 or Sansa Fuze topping the list at the moment. (Sony would be considered but they are pretty expensive here in Oz.)

Thanks for the input

Paul
