After the announcement of these new 20/40 GB iPods at the same price as the 15/30 GB versions, I'm pissed. I bought my 15 GB iPod only 1 month ago, and was not expecting an update so soon. Well, now I feel cheated and am regretting my purchase. Recently, I've been dissapointed with the iPod's equalizer... so that's another reason I'm starting to dislike the iPod. So I *might* be selling my 15Gb iPod on eBay.

So I was wondering, what are the releases dates for the new HDD Mp3 Players including Zen NX, Karma, iHP-100, and Philips? I'm highly interested in the Zen NX because of it's battery length, sound quality and equalizer. Can someone explain the Zen's eq? Does it have the 6-Band equalizer or is it like MD Players? But the main thing is the value: $299 for 30 GB is insane!!

first off... pissed out at Apple? Please fill in THIS FORM, since a lot of other ppl seemed to agree with you... I thought it would be some sort of idea to gather all these resources, and confront somebody at Apple with them later on if that proves to be necessary (for now, it's just a personal favour you would do me).

iHP-100 is out already (at least: in Europe it is), so is HDD100 but ow man... well, it wasn't good. You'll have to read my review on the head-to-head with iHP-100 later on this month, until then: be advised and do NOT buy the HDD100. It's full of bugs and annoyances.

Karma was rumoured to appear mid-september already, dunno if that's true though. Zen NX is appearing more often around here (Europe again), haven't really payed too much attention to it just yet, although I'm very interested in it.

The Samsung YP-900 has gone from 10 to 20 GB and is rumoured to be released in October.

Thanks for the replies.
I'd like the United States release dates if possible.
Also, the 8MB Buffer on the Zen worries me... I don't want my music to skip, and I heard the faceplate comes off easily?

Rob, one of the developers of the Karma, says that he expects the Karma to be available by the end of September or a bit sooner.

The iHP-100 is already available in America too.

I'm still a little bit curious about this mysterious player that you're intimating at, Omni.

Will it compete?

Nah, it won't compete in any sense of the word I'm afraid. It's just another 2.5" HDD player, nothing special... I guess it's running behind already, but I've gotta grab what I can get my hands on (no pun intended) and give the site some mysterious "air"

. I'm expecting it in any day now, so you'll see. It's no iPod, iHP or Zen-killer.
