Has anyone tried to build or find a regulated power supply for the RA-1,and if so did it degrade the sound compared to the battery power?

The new 2003 musicdirect catalog shows a new Grado RA1-AC that runs off of AC power as well as the standard 9 volts. It is coming soon.
It also says that retrofitting of older units to be available soon. Call for details.

I contacted Grado,and they will convert your RA-1 to DC power for $75.They claim it does not degrade the sound.
