Any recommendations for either of those amps for my AKG K501? FYI I will be using the combo with a Rega Planet CD player and some stock interconnects, and I listen to mostly jazz and some pop/rock.

TIA for your help!

I haven't heard either of these amps, but I have heard good things about the Creek/K-501 combo. Those K-501's are pretty nice, arent they

Give the Rega a try just for the sake of possible system synergy between the Planet and Ear.
(IMHO synergy between components leads to audio nirvana.

I too have the 501s and it seems to me that these are very power hungry cans.

I have a new META42 amp and it drives my 501 very well.
There are many different configuration of this amp so some research is in order if you are considering this route.

I'd say the K501s are like women; it takes a lot of muscle to satisfy them

But seriously, they are great heaphones if amping is done properly.

You guys read my mind. I heard a lot about the great synergy between the K501 and the Creek, but was quite curious about the possible synergy between the Planet and the Ear. Although the Ear is definitely a bit cheaper....

As for the Meta, I was also considering ordering one from Tangent as I am not so hot w/ a solder myself, but he is currently flooded w/ back orders and thus refuse to take any new order.

Maxi,

I personally like my woman "muscular", if you know what I mean.

Yeah, they sound pretty darn good....and I have no doubt that I can extract even more perfromance out of them w/ a decent amp.
