Not a bad deal, but a better deal is to find a friendly college student. Apple has deals with lots of colleges for discounts. My price list shows a brand new 5 gb Ipod for $199 with the student discount (for me).

Interesting, my college only gets $30 or so off on iPods. *hmph* And I heard that you get longer warranty on refurbbed than with the new ones *hmph* *hmph*

According to Apple's iPod specs page, it has a new iPod has a one year limited warranty, same as the refurbed one.

Oh, goody. I was reading some iPod horror stories, and the original warranty was 90 days.

I had an original iPod, and it was very hard to get Apple to take it back even within the warranty.
