Recommendations?

My choice as of now is the HD485 for its great bass.

I mainly listen to Hip-Hop and some of Indie.

and I care deeply about bass

oplen/closed doesn't matter, just want it to sound good.



Other recommandations around that price range would be appreciated.

the equation rp-15s seem to be getting a great review in the bass department for closed type headphones. I'm planning on snagging a pair for myself in the next couple of days.

I find grados work very well for hip hop... The SR60 is a great choice for that. THey are my favorite for listening to Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Living Legends, and the like. A close second would be the K81s which are also quite good, a bit more practical for a wide range of applications, but not quite as portable. The grados run about $69 and the AKG about $65 or so

Hmmm.. I heard Grado's arent' as good except may be SR80 and they're mostly good for rock.

I'd have to disagree, at least for the 60's and 80's, which both lack bass impact to give hip-hop any oomph. 125 and 225's are decent though.
