Several days a week I ride the bus into work and I want to get some new headphones for my commute. Here's where I'm coming from... I'm a big fan of Grado headphones and will likely be getting either the SR225 or SR325i next month to upgrade from my low-end SR60s. Usually what I use on the go is a set of Shure e2c, which I really like, but lately I just haven't been comfortable with the ear-canal style (likely due to the cold I've had for a while).
So, what I'm looking for is a good headphone for my commute that I can use as an alternate for my Shures. Something that sounds decent and isn't overly expensive (no more than about $50 to $60, less might be better). Oh, and I'm not overly crazy about the "clip-on" style headphones. I'd just use my SR60s, but I don't want to "leak" sound and annoy my fellow commuters.
I've been looking at the PX100s and the Porta Pro, but I think both of those are "open" designs. Anyone have any real-world experience and can talk about the amount of sound leakage I can expect from them?
I don't usually use an amp, but I have a couple of Cmoys that I've built that I could easily slip into my pocket, if anyone's headphone recommendations require a little more "oomph." My source is almost always a iPod mini.
What do I usually listen to? A slew of different styles of music. Lots of ambient music, downtempo, dance, micro-house, rock, pop, even some quasi-country and the occasional hip-hop and classical. Despite listening to a lot of electronic music, I really don't consider myself a "bass-head." I like it deep, but I like it controlled and well-mixed.
Thanks in advance, guys. I appreciate everyone's opinions.
