Hi there,

I've got a question on a piece of gear.
Maybe someone can help me here.

As source I've got a M-Audio delta 1010lt (RCA out and coax out).
Besides the cans (low impendance AKGs and Grado SR60) there is a pair of Tannoy Reveal actives without volume control to be fed.

What I would like is a kind of DAC with 2 independent outputs.
Coax input, one output with fixed volume to hook up a headphone amp and another output with volume control for the speakers(balanced out would be nice).

Wouldn't have to be a digital input since the RCA out delivers a clean signal.

A mixer would surely do, but I don't know how it affects the soundquality or if a DAC would enhance the SQ some more.

Currently I'm using a small Behringer Eurodesk to regulate the speakers volume, but it adds a bit of hiss and noise to the signal and has only an unbalanced output.

Knows anyone a device that could do the trick?

I just found this: Mackie 402 VLZ3/

Kind of leaving audiophile terrtory here, probably.
Anyone tried Mackie gear for connecting PC, Speakers and HPs?

Would connect RCA out to channels 3+4, the speakers at main out and the headphone amp at the tape output.

Any thoughts?

Your M-audio card does DAC duties... RCA out means its analog signal already. All you need at MINIMUM is a headphone amp with 2 switchable volume controlled outputs, 1 for headphone 1 for speaker.

However, assuming u don't mind getting another DAC, something like the E-MU 0404 USB would be a good choice, it has balanced volume controlled output for speakers, and a decent headphone output with its own volume control.
