Looking for Ety ER4P top end and midrange performance (detailed yet not fatiguing) and Ultrasone Proline 750 bass (deep and punchy but not overwhelming) in a full size closed back headphone. If it makes a difference would also cosider open back phones as well

System includes: RWA iMod, RSA Hornet and ALO Jumbo Cryo mini to mini

Thanks

If you want to spend that much you could always get a K1000, they offer good mids and highs, and seem to fit your descriptions, but why would you have a price range like that? (Maybe it's because I'm mid-fi...)

I thought he wanted closed cans.

They are hard to beat in under $300 category, but need amplifier.

I for one don't think the K271s are in the K701s league. In fact the only [closed] phone I think discussed that is, is the CD3000. Current prices though are a bit steap.

love cd3000's but many people find their highs bright. i think it is probably system dependent to some degree.

if you like the pl 750's imaging and bass but want a more refined high end an ultrasone edition 9 is closed and very very good. excellent even. i find them to be on the same level as my grado ps'1s and akg k1000's in overall sq. though each of those cans is quite unique in sound signature.

dont think you will find the k1000's will create the bass you want.

No, they are definitely not up to open K701 or HD650.
But there are not that many closed contenders in this price range. May be new Denon D2000, but they are twice K271S price although cheaper than W5000, unfortunately they do not isolate well enough for closed phones. I was on that closed cans quest for quite a while already. Still can't find anything better than K271S for office use.

I was very curious about the ultrasone edition 9s, but concerned about the top end because they use the same driver as the 750s. I read many of the posts regarding the editions and most emphasize even more detail than the 750s.
As a side note, I am having my Prolines modified to use a Moon Audio Silver Dragon cable just to see if it tames the highs a bit....
I was listening to my Etys the other night and just found them to be more tolerant of high frequencies and more listenable in general; the obvious thing missing is the very low frequency bass.

what part of the world are you in...you may be near to someone who would let you try their edition 9s. now that i have over 400 hours on mine i don't ever get the highs wiggin out (which happens with the pl750s depending on recording), but i am using them with pretty high end sources, cables etc too. have not tried them with say, my iriver portable cdp...

Analog'd
I live in the Southern California area.
Good to know you are enjoying your edition 9s. I really like both my iMod and Hornet with the ALO cable combo, so I would think having really high resolution heaphones would be a good match to bring out the best in the system.
I should have my Moon Audio modified 750s in a couple of weeks so I will keep you guys posted on the results. If I could just smooth out the highs and add some more clarity/weight in the midrange I think I would reach "audio nirvana....." for the time being :>
