Almost a year old thread but using the search "desktop speakers" this was the newest of the lot.

Question: which or what pair of passive speakers would you recommend for me to use on a desktop? Or should I stick to the old ones for time being?

Current equipment:

FiiO E07k
FiiO E09k
FiiO A1
AKG K601 headphones
Audio Pro E.1 speakers http://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=audio%20pro%20e.1&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CC0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.audiopro.com%2Fexpired_products%2Fevidence-e1&ei=lkyCUc6LBPGK4gSKqoCwBg&usg=AFQjCNECZQGL9CsX-yi2cjB6OTkckbzPwQ

Current speakers are about ten years old and I was originally using them as surround speakers in 5.1 setup. They are a relic of sorts.

My budget is max 200 euros and the size of the speakers is an isue also. I have considered a pair of Q Acoustics 2010i (198 euros) or 2020i (258 euros, a bit over budget atm), Cambridge Audio S20 (149 euros) or S30 (199 euros). The size of Cambridge S30 is the upper limit I can manage to fit into my desktop. Any other makers/models I should look into?

Considering my headphones as a point of reference what is the best choice as speakers?

Due to lack of responses I decided to buy "oldies but goldies" from a higher price group. I got a sweet deal on a pair of used Chorus speakers. Normal price for them is 229 to 269 euros each depending on the finish of housing. I got a pair under 200 euros.

These are the speakers http://www.or-group.fi/chorus/en/compact/compact_662.php
