Recommendation for cans with stronger bass than KSC-35's

I came here a while back looking for a recommendation for a pair of headphones that weren't expensive but had relatively good performance. Everyone recommended either the PortaPro or the 35's, so I went for the 35's which were easier to find. I like the 35's a lot, but the clips hurt my ear after extended use and they lack the bass for rap, jungle, and other typically bass-heavy stuff. What's a good solution in the $100 range? I was looking at Sony MDR-V600's and the V6, are these the same model? They're both "studio monitor" headphones that have circum-aural earcup designs, whatever that means.

I tried using the search module for feedback on these particular headphones, but I get an error in IE and no response from Firefox.

Actually, the porta pro would be perfect for your needs

They're more comfy and output some more bass.

I was actually a bit curious of the Sennheiser PX100's that are supposed to be better than the PortaPros. Problem is, I have no idea where in Canada to shop for headphones; I bought the KSC-35's from eBay, and the only listings for the PX100's there are from US sellers who won't ship to here.

KSC-35 are awesome, I wonder where you get your "they lack bass" attitude from

PortaPro or PortaPro 2 can still be had everywhere, I guess, and they put out more bass. The SportaPro is even more bassy.
V6 and V600 are not the same, V600 is uber-crap while V6 is just ... meh ...

Or a baseball cap - I wear one that's been loosened a bit to go over my Sony MDR CD-777's which have lost their clamping force over the years. I can actually change both bass response and brightness (very much needed) by adjusting the tightness of the cap.

Maybe we need a Team Low-Cost/Hi-Fi Cheats.

The porta pros have lots of bass for a under $100 headphone. They even beat alot of more expensive headphones out there in bass quantity.Add a headphone amp with good source and get even more bass!

Depends on where in Canada you are. Futureshop has the PortaPros. And I bought Senn PX100s at A&B Sound (both in Vancouver). They also have the PortaPros btw.
I was not very impressed with the PX100. They lack highs and also have a less tight bass then the PortaPros. Overall the sound is very laid back and mellow. Which can be good, because its not tiring, but its also a bit boring. Btw: I am in Canada and have a pair of PortaPros I want to get rid of. While I like the sound, they dont fit my big head too well. So if you are interested, let me know.

for a decent but not anything audiophile but has more bass than strapping 2 cervin vegas to your ears would be the technics vdj 1200 series

but asides from their dumb bottom end, they are really a inferior can compared to the ksc 35/v6 etc..

Found 'em online here at Futureshop... $90? I could've sworn they were only $40US or so back when Headroom carried 'em, which is less than $60 Canadian.

Also, I think there's something wrong with the right can of my 35's, there's some strange rattling whenever I listen to bass-heavy stuff.

oof. that sucks. There's another thread up here somewhere that mentioned an aol site having a sale on them for US$20 plus ship (mine came to $29 with tax and ship), but I just looked and their site says they don't do int'l. Might be worth it to hustle somethign with a stateside friend, though.

or else, it's about to get colder, you know. I used to use these so-so audio-technica clips, but in the winter I loved the bass when i tucked them under a tight knit cap. for real! (stay warmer too...)
