Recommend me a nice digital camera for still life

looking for a nice digital camera for still life and such... give me some recommendations in the sub $400 category

I'm looking at the Olympus C-7070 Wide Zoom digital camera and I think it's your best bet. It has a 7.1 MP CCD, which gives you ample detail in your images, and you can save them as RAW files. The Wide Zoom lens will help you in capturing close-ups (the specs said you can use a Super Macro Mode that allows you to shoot objects as close as 1.18 in.). MSRP is $449, but you can definitely find it for considerably less than that. Get at least 512 MB or 1 GB size CompactFlash/xD Picture card for storage.

It would be pretty hard to beat a Canon PowerShot G5 or G6 for the exposure controls, RAW format, optics and features. The G5, being superceded, can probably be had for really a good price. My G3 was very good to me.

Yeah, if you don't need a long zoom, G5 or G6 should be on your top list.

If you can stretch your budget to $645, you can get the Pentax *ist DS with Kit Lens. Far far better than other Point and Shoot digicams.
