Hey guys,

I currently own a pair of creative EP630's and i wanted to upgrade. I'm searching for a ~$100 pair of IEM's that would give the best bang for the buck.

At the moment i'm leaning towards the Etymotic ER6i's, but i'm unsure how they perform with trance music, since i mainly listen to trance music.

Isolation is very important to me as i'll be using these mainly at work.
Also i'd like a little bit of bass, but i don't want bloated bass.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think the ER6i's are going to do what you want. They really just aren't cut out for Trance music imo [lack of lowerend].

I would say save up your money and get some Atrio M5's or a Super.fi 5 Pro.

They aren't so bad if you do the flip side mod. Atrio M5's would work well for trance from what I have been told about them.

For under $100 I would suggest these:

The Denon AH-C700 are fantastic. They are on a huge sale at Amazon for $99.99 shipped (usually $200):

Denon AH-C700

The UE Super.fi 3's are a great IEM all around. They are s little bulky and have to be worn over the ear. $59.99 shipped

UE Super.fi 3

The UE Metro.fi 2's are a great entry level IEM. They are a little on the bass heavy side. They are not bulky like the Super.fi series and do not go over the ear. $49.99 shipped

UE Metro.fi 2

The Crossroads MylarOne X3i sound great. The build quality is not "super" strong like the three above, but they are much better then the V-Moda. $57 shipped

Why not? I thought Amazon would ship anywhere? Or is it the shipping cost & fees?

Can you get the Westone UM1? They are $110 including shipping in the US.

x2 on the mylarone xbi's. Atrio m5s are good too, but are the most expensive and are not possible to get under $100 (I got some used for $130). The denons are good as well, as are comparably priced kenwood kh-c711s that can be ordered for ebay for a bit over $100, shipped.

Coming from EP630s I'd say that after any upgrade you'll get tired of them, regardless. To my ears, the bass-kick was the only redeeming factor of the phones.

give the x3b/x3i's a chance. I can tell you that the low end is similar to super fi 5 EBs but not without sacrificing the high end that the EBs are known for.

Not to mention 3x cheaper.

Only problem is as mentioned, build quality. I've had mine for 6 months and I always carefully take them out of my ear, mp3 player. Works great so far!
