Like the title says, needs to be a closed design. Other than a Denon, what has full but tight bass and is detailed without being sibilant (think closed 325is)? Under $300 used or new does not matter. It would help if it had a 4 wire cable so I can reterminate to balanced.

If you need isolation then I could say HD25-II. If not you probably could do better.

But amped properly the HD25 doesn't disappoint at all.

i love my ultrasone HFI-580s for rock. i tried the hfi-780 and other headphones like audio technica m50 but i chose to buy these. it has alot of bass and it's really fun sounding headphones. the highs are not as clear as the hfi 780 or say 323i, but the bass of these headphones make them really good headphones to pump u up. it's really in your face sound.

try ultrasone pro 550 for lots of spaciousness. they feel almost like you are wearing open headphones.

Pro 750...can be used sans amp in a pinch, but sound much better with one...portable amp even.

if you don't think the 325's are sibilant, than I wouln't worry about anything else sounding sibilant, just go for whatever has the most treble. Maybe the Ultrasones.

Um, well my issues with the HE-5 tell a very different story about sibilance. The Grados are bright but there is no sibilance on my system. I had HD595's which were sibilant and returned those.
Are the 750's sibilant?

I agree...the 780 definitely has great bass...i am not sure if is the best for female vocals or acoustic but i enjoy listening to those genres with the 780s
