I've paired the Samson SR850 with my laptop's external DAC/PRE and found the sound quality to benefit noticeably. Id like a budget amp in my bedroom to use with my mobile phone [Remdi Note 6 pro] that can smoothen out the highs a bit and provide a better SQ than my mobile. Are there any recommendations in the low budget end?

Conveniently bright sound is easy to fix since it doesn't do well with filters.

Have you tried something like stuffing stuff in your headphones? Try the damping mods in this post.

Software EQ is a good no-cost place to start. Depending on what music player you're using you might already have something. Try that before you shell out money for an amp.
