Hi

I've recently become interested in improving the quality of the sound that I've listened to and now want to upgrade my headphones. The headphones i've had for the last 3 years are sony mdr-v150 and they get the job done, but one of the bands broke recently so i'm looking to replace them. I use them for everything, listening to my computer or with my ipod in noisy environments. I really like the look of grados and the reviews they get and when i tried them out (sr80) they were amazing, but since they're open, I don't think they'll work very well in a noisy place. Could you recommend some headphones under $150, that work well in noisy environments, sennheiser are good, but I they're too big and bulky for my liking.

Thanks

If you liked your Sony's and like the Grado, than maybe the Audio Technica A900?

If you like that Sony sound you could try out the MDR-V6/MDR-7506. I had the MDR-V150 just like you and after I got my MDR-7506 I felt like stomping my MDR-V150 into pieces because they might sneak up on me and infect my ears with their putrid sound while I sleep!

Ok, so I'm exaggerating, but seriously the V6/7506 should be taken into consideration. The V6 is $70ish and the 7506 is $100.

If you can spend more than $150 though, I'd also suggest the Audio-Technica A900 like BennyBoy said. I also own these and find them a significant step-up from the MDR-7506 I just recommended... but they're about $200 and you might not want to go outside with them on unless you like looking like you have two big blue muffins on the side of your head?

I like the audio technica but they're wicked big, and I'm looking to use them for portable use and they're massive. The look of the headphone does matter, I really like the look of the grado's and the open sennheiser's i like too but the closed sennheisers aren't my style. I would get another pair of sony's but from the reviews ive read, they're not the best sound wise, lookwise, they're awesome. What are the best closed headphones I can get for under $200 new or used.

I imagine the Audio Technica ES-7 would be good for you. Closed, supposedly ( never heard them ) sound good, and look good. ES-7
