__Listening to music at home
__Gaming

__I want the something high-end, but within reason.

I need sound isolation with an adequate amount, about 12-15db. I would also prefer circumaural over canal. I dont want to go over $200 for the phones, I primarily listen to Acoustic guitar and vocals and really want a full, balanced spectrum of sound in my listening. I enjoy a lot of punch when I am listening to music. I'm using an Extigy as my main source, but I'm thinking of getting the m-audio revo. I want to avoid an amp for budget reasons if possible.

Thanks.

A900 - Comfortable, circumaural, efficient enough for sound cards, big soundstage for gaming, good impact and sound for rock

AKG K271 - Comfortable, curcumaural, efficient, more neutral sound, better for jazz IMO

Ultrasone HFI-650- Some complaints about comfort, efficeint, analytical sound
HFI-650 DVD - Same as above with more bass

without an amp?

just wondering.

The sound has good impact, as good as the 250 (which isnt that impactful really). The A900 has better extension and far better soundstaging (i.e. better cues). The 250 doesn't isolate much. The A900 isolates a little more. It's also a heck of a lot easier to drive. The only problem is the size, especially on them caucasian pinheads of yours
