Will they cause any popping/crackling/loss in sound quality in any way whatsoever?

Simple question provokes simple answers. Please answer. Thank you.

Never noticed any difference in sound quality when using rechargeable & Alkaline. I use both, but prefer to use high capacity (2500mAh) NiMH's in my Sony D-NF600, externally charged, though the player will charge them as well.

No. This is because alkalines lose voltage gradually as they are being used up (and their average voltage during their lifespan turns out to be only about 1.2V, the same as the nominal rating of a good rechargeable AA NiMH battery).

The only thing I ever used in my portable CD players was rechargeable batteries and there were never any sound issues.
