I've been using my new Shure earphones but htey don't seem much different from the 15 dollar quality iPod and Zune earphones... sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't... I am using the soft earbuds like earplugs, but the sound quality is usually really low, and sometimes its really nice. I've tried to remove them, but I don't know how. I've twisted them, forcefully tried to straightly take them off, and use that cleaning tool... but I just can't so I don't know if its the earbud or whatever... but I paid 150 dollars for earphones which is alot of money so I want quality ALOT better then generic iPod earphones.

use the black foam plugs. If they come with large try those. THe idea is to get a COMPLETE SEAL in your ear canal. Im talkin about, if you move your jaw and the seal breaks, youre not doing it properly. SEALED. Your sound quality depends on this 100%. Use a combination of twisting and pulling to get the current tip off. It WILL come off.

I haven't heard the SE210's, but they almost certainly are much better than the earphones that came with your mp3 players. My guess is that you do not have the right tips for you and/or do not have a good seal. Start with the yellow foam tips. Compress them with your fingers so they are mashed all around the tip, then insert and hold in place for about 10 seconds. They will expand and create a seal in your ear canal. See if it sounds better like that. If so, either stick with those or try the other tips and attempt to get a good seal.

okay i used the big black foam plugs and its alot better then the smaller ones, but the sound is really low. I have a zune and when I turn it to 20 that is the sound volume that it usually is at 10... I did notice before that when you pressed in the nozzle thing it got alot quieter, could it be that its like that the whole time now... ugh I think I should have gotten those Bose headphones

Definately. As we all know Bose headphones are the headphones to get...

You need to understand that not every headphones are as easy to drive as the ones you had before. Your volume "situation" is normal for everyone.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go for those Bose headphones, I just want to be able to slap on some headphones and go, not take time to do all that stuff, and make sure the volume is perfect.

one question though I through the box away can I still return it to Best Buy?

Probably not for the full price. It's really best to keep packaging at least until you are sure you want to keep them. Their return policy states that you have to have the original packaging. They may return it for store credit, but most likely with a restocking fee. Sorry these didn't work out for you.

Otherwise, if you are dire to sell them, you may be able to sell them here on the "For Sale" forum. You simply have to get your posts to a certain point, I believe 50 is the magic number. As long as the set is in relatively good condition, then you should get a decent portion back (much better than nothing).

I would try and see what best buy will do for you. After that, try other options to regain the funds. Good luck with the Bose. I hope you like those better.

Don't take them back. The problem is probably your files. What bitrate you rip at? If they are low quality files, the shures will show that up much more than the generic buds.

I lol'd. When is volume ever perfect? It'll always change depending on how sensitive the source is, how loud the music files are, and the impedance of your 'phones.

Also, if you threw away the box...that's like tossing out a pet turtle's shell then trying to return the nude turtle to the pet store. Probably not gonna work.

I have to ask whether they were inserted into the ear canal, and not just left to hang in the outer part of the ear cartilage ... unlike pack-in earbuds, the seal is what counts, as mentioned above by mrdeadfolx.

Just go for the Bose headphones if they make you happy

I don't think you can still return it, but you could probably sell them on the FS forums here, after your post count is above 50.

Try the clear tips, small first. Lick them before you stick them in (lol, trust me, this helps getting them in a little further), and put them as far as you can push them. You should get a poping feeling, then it should go away and they will slide out of your ears a little bit. Keep them like that, and they should be fine. Also, about the volume issue, make sure that the extention cable (if you have one) is properly attached, and that the files you are playing are of the higher bit rate. The op amp in the Zune isnt that weak, should be able to drive <50 ohm headphones fine.

I've got the 210 as well, and they have to be the most awkward fit ever. They don't like to stay in and if you move they wriggle out. I had success with them yesterday after fiddling around with them for 30 mins, and suddenly they sounded great. With my standard Sony buds, I need the volume at around 18/30 and with the 210s I can turn it down to 14 or 15/30.

When they fit - they fit - when they don't, they're crap!
The only way I could get them to fit better, was to push them in first, and them sort of twist the earpiece upwards in the ear at an angle. They stayed put much better
