I ordered a set of the low cost D-Jays from Sound Earphones and received a package from them today. The package itself was high quality shipping. The D-Jay's package was also very high quality and elaborate. The D-Jays themselves appear to be about the size of the JVC HA-FX300s in similar shape also. They use a single BA and the nozzle is about the size of, maybe slightly smaller than, the Zen Aurvanas. They use a flat filter. Apparently the filter attaches by some sort of adhesive, I don't know yet but they are completely flat rather than cylindrical like the iM-616/716 and Etymotics.
You can wear them under or over the ear and over is actually more secure because of the back end lodging itself against the ear frame when pushed in far enough. The cord length is very short. It would work well with someone carrying their DAP in a shirt pocket but is not so good for wearing a DAP on the belt, like I do. However, an extension is provided, making the overall cord length way too long. lol
The set comes with a very nice little soft, zippered carrying case, 4 sets of silicone sleeves of differing sizes and an airplane adapter that is two-piece and seems to work by providing two mono channels instead of stereo. I thought I had an adapter that would allow me to change the channels of my canalphones so the ones that can't be worn over the ear without using the left channel in the right ear and the right channel in the left ear could be worn that way. But it turns out to be a dual mono device.
I haven't had enough time with them to comment on sound quality and want to make certain my ears aren't skewed by other phones before I do comment. That happened with the RE2s awhile back.
Commenting on their color, the pink ones are the only ones available from SE but they aren't a serious pink. They appear to be a light purplish and can be explained that way if you guys get quizzed about their color...LOL.
More to come.
