Today is a sad day. I am currently headphone-less and currently using a handsfree kit that came with my phone... bad times.

I'm after some canal'phones around the £50GBP mark and available in the UK.

These are the 'phones I've owned before they either died on me or I sadly lost.

CX300 - Okey for general listening out and about. Too muddy and bass heavy when I'm listening in  bed or at my PC.

Jays D-Jays - Detail was pretty good but even lossless files sounded like low kb/s files sometimes. Serious lack of bass and everything sounded flat.

Klipsch Custom-2s - I really liked these but unfortunately these must have slipped out of my pocket or the ear hooks must have snagged something and dropped. Nothing much I can fault but if they came with a tiny little bit more bass, they would have been perfect.

I'm currently looking at something around the £50GBP mark that sounds like the KC2s (they no longer sell the C2s at any reputable online stores). I Listen to a bit of everything from RnB, rock, classical etc and unamped. Source: iPod nano 2g, My android phone, the PC and laptop.

These seem to be around my budget: SoundMagic PL30 or PL 50, Klipsch Image S4 or S3, Etymotic MC5, Ultimate Ears Super fi 4. Please enlighten Me.

Or £44 on amazon, The sf.4's aren't bad at about £25 if you can find them at that price, you'll probably find the s4's muddy in much the same way as the cx300. The others I haven't heard. Unknown Chinese iem's tend to go further for your money in this range, the brainwavz M3 springs  to mind though that's only through absorbing other reviews.

Thanks all for the replies. The custom-2s were bought some years ago for £50 during a promo on amazon. To buy the custom-1s for the same price would make me feel meh. From what I can tell from the reviews as well, the KC1s sound like the KC2s but with less of everything, Im looking for something like the KC2s but with a bit more omph.

mark2410: In that thread you say the KC2s were warmer and bassier then the PL50s, I don't think the PL50s are right for me as I'm starting to think they would sound a little like the D-Jays. Even with mental burn-in, music would still sound abit lifeless.

The S4s from other reviews do sound like they may be a bit too boomy, so that rules that out.

I'll carry on researching. but if anyone knows a cannal 'phones with similar sound signature to the KC2s let me know.
