Ive never seen a thread or any tutorial on how to recable a hardwired akg.
I have the akg 240m studio monitors and the headphones are hard wired. Ive always wanted to change out the stock cable because the insulation is matte and snags on everything. I never got around to recabling it until today, not the cable isnt overly long and doesnt snag. I took the liberty of taking pictures to show, for anyone attempting this as a DIY.

Recabling an AKG 240m studio monitor is no easy task, this shouldnt be dont by noobies, even Ive found it to be very trickey and tedious. It makes the grado recable mod look like a piece of cake.

So why is it difficult? this is not a simple headphone like the grados, the AKGs are designed a lot more complicated then the grados, To heard wire recable the darn thing, the entire headphone has to be taken apart, every little bit. This thing was designed not to be modded or opened up, its a really tricky headphone, and the only way to reach those terminal points is to take the entire thing apart which adds up to like 20 pieces that have to be reassembled back together

There are no screws on the cans, and I had to take a moment and figure out how to open it up. I took a small jewelers screwdriver and pried off the akg logo and hidden under was a screw under some glue, after then and 10 more screws and everything totally disassembled, I found the terminal points.

the good stuff, PICS.

the inside the headband seems to act as a conductor there are terminal points at the tips of the head band, pretty spiffy, I didnt find any wire used to bridge over to the other side.

I was just about to ask that very same question.

cant really say, since Ive been listening to my Grados as my past headphones then did a couple of days straight listening with the senns.

Ive already been spoiled by the senns so its difficult for me to remember exactly how these cans sounded before.

the top end sizzle seems to be tamed down now, I forget how difficult these cans are to drive, Im too used to the senns, with the senns Id get detail and bass right away along with a pinpoint sound stage.

the most noticeable is the stupid wire doesnt snag an anything anymore, and is more of an approriate length, rather then the original 10000000000000000 ft 80 awg wire. lol the original cable was so long and the stock insulation was made of a made material that stuck to everything. Whichis the main reason I recabled.

the cans had a filter placed to block the air vents, Im kicking myself as to why i didnt take them out, Im sure bass response wouldve imporved.
